Part 2 of the Group Bible Study in the Letter to the Galatians. The apostle Paul’s letter to the churches in Galatia is often used in proof texts to argue specific doctrines that have been accepted by cultural “Christianity”, which is not within the historical or contextual of Paul’s teachings.
In part 2 of this Bible Study, one must considered the events of Acts 14:8-18, the gnostic movement within the churches, as well as the understanding that the sect of Pharisees causing such problems considered the Law to be inclusive of Rabbinical Judaism (inclusive of the oral traditions and placing those oral traditions in primacy to the written law). Jesus Christ expressed His opposition to the teachings of the Pharisees, and their primacy of the oral traditions (captured in the Mishna, Talmud and Gemara) being placed ahead of the written law, in His ministry. This Bible Study seeks to study the letter to the churches in Galatia, in the proper contextual and historical viewpoint.
